Find It Early Act

This bill requires private health insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, and VA health programs to cover supplemental breast cancer screening and diagnostic imaging at no cost to the patient. Coverage applies to people at elevated breast cancer risk due to dense breast tissue, family history, age, race, or other medical factors, as determined by a health care provider using guidelines from leading oncology organizations.

People with private health insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, and VA health benefits who are at higher-than-average risk for breast cancer. This especially affects those who currently pay out of pocket for supplemental imaging such as 3D mammograms, ultrasounds, or MRI scans.

Starting January 1, 2026, health plans and public programs would be required to cover additional breast cancer screening tools at no cost for qualifying patients. This could improve early detection rates for higher-risk individuals and potentially save lives through earlier diagnosis.
